Watertown Candidates Forum set for June 7
The Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce will host a candidates forum and informational session on the Justice Center bond issue on Wednesday, June 7, at the Lake Area Technical Institute Student Center.
The session, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will feature candidates for three Watertown City Council wards and Watertown’s mayoral race. All candidates have been invited to attend.
The tentative format for the evening will begin with an overview of Codington County’s proposed justice facilities. On June 20, voters will decide whether Codington County should issue bonds to fund the construction of a jail and remodeling of the courts.
Immediately following the county’s presentation, the forum will feature candidates from Wards B, D and E and the Watertown mayoral race.
Candidates in Ward B are Adam Lalim and Jason Redemske. The race for Ward D includes incumbent Randy Tupper, Josh Weyh and Joe Snyder. In Ward E, voters will chose between incumbent Dan Albertsen and challenger Liam Culhane.
The evening will conclude with candidates for the mayoral race taking the stage, including Mayor Steve Thorson, Sarah Caron and Mike Davis.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend. The general election is Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
Moderators for the candidates forum will include Roger Whittle of the Watertown Public Opinion, David J. Law of KXLG Radio, and Mike Tanner of Watertown Radio.
